CWS Impact Garage Doors: The Naples Owner’s Guide
We stock, match, and install CWS-compatible impact garage door components throughout Naples, with typical installed part costs running $225 to $1,100 depending on what failed. Most CWS door repairs run $185 to $475 installed, and we carry the common failure parts on our trucks so the fix usually happens on the first visit. The way most Naples homeowners discover a failing CWS part is not dramatic. It starts as a door that hesitates mid-cycle, a rattle that was not there last hurricane season, or a bottom seal that has started letting afternoon rain creep across the garage floor.

One note before we go further: TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent installer and repair shop. We work on CWS doors daily but we are not a CWS-owned service department, which means we match parts by measurement and spec rather than by a corporate part-number lookup sheet.
Which CWS Models This Applies To
CWS builds its impact garage door lines in a few distinct families, and parts do not always cross between them. The three we see most in Naples are the Windpact series (flush-panel residential doors), the Carriage House collection (stamped steel with decorative overlays), and the Legacy and Titan commercial-grade lines found on larger three-car garages and some Gulf-front condominium buildings. A hinge from a Windpact door will not seat correctly on a Titan track, and forcing it is how perfectly good doors get knocked out of true.
The fastest way to identify what you have is to look at the top left of the door’s inside face. CWS rivets a small metal tag there with the series name and a build date. If the tag has corroded off, which is common within two miles of the Gulf, measure the panel thickness. Windpact residential doors run 1 3/8 inches thick. Titan doors run 2 inches. That single measurement eliminates a lot of wrong parts.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for CWS specifically: CWS impact doors are tested as a complete assembly. When a roller, hinge, or strut fails, an aftermarket part matched to the exact gauge and mount spacing performs just as well as the factory piece, and it is often available weeks faster. Where we will not substitute is on load-bearing reinforcement components: the struts, the stiles, and any part of the bottom rail on a wind-rated door. Those get OEM CWS or nothing. The assembly rating depends on them.
Signs Your CWS Impact Garage Door Is Failing
- Grinding or metallic popping during travel. This is almost always a roller bearing breaking down. CWS doors use nylon-coated steel rollers, and once the coating wears through on the inner race, the steel-on-steel contact chews up the track. Naples’ salt air shortens roller life by roughly a third compared to inland Florida.
- Door drifts down after opening. On a door less than ten years old, this points to weakened extension springs or a cable that has slipped its drum. On a CWS door pushing fifteen years in Gulf air, it usually means both. Springs lose tension gradually in heat and humidity, and most owners do not notice until the door will not hold at the top.
- Daylight visible under the closed door or water pooling near the weather seal. CWS bottom seals are a U-channel TPE extrusion. They flatten permanently after about five to seven years of Naples sun exposure. The rubber does not rot so much as it loses memory and stops pressing into the concrete.
- Panel edges flaking or a powdery white corrosion along the bottom rail. This is electrolysis, and it is accelerated anywhere road spray or irrigation water touches raw steel. We see it worst on older Windpact doors in East Naples and the Estates, where irrigation systems run hard in the dry season.
- Door shudders halfway up, then continues. The horizontal track has fallen out of level, usually because a mounting bracket worked loose from the structure. Coastal homes settle, concrete expands, and a bracket that was true in 2016 may be off by a half inch now. Shuddering is the door telling you the tracks are fighting each other.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed repair pricing in Naples breaks down like this:
- Individual rollers: $18 to $35 each, installed
- Standard hinge (residential Windpact or Carriage House): $22 to $48 installed
- Strut or reinforcement bar (OEM CWS, wind-rated): $85 to $165 installed
- Complete bottom seal replacement: $110 to $220 depending on door width
- Spring assembly (both springs, cables, and rebalancing): $285 to $475
- Full panel section replacement with matching CWS impact panel: $600 to $1,100
Every written estimate we give in Naples lays out the part cost and the labor as separate line items. You will see exactly what the part costs us to bring in and exactly what the truck and the technician cost to put it in. No lump-sum mystery number. If we are replacing a moving part, we rebalance the full door before we leave, because a new spring on a door with worn rollers just burns out the new spring. The workmanship carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not right when we leave, we come back until it is.

DIY or Call Us?
There are two parts on a CWS impact door that are genuinely dangerous to work on without proper training: the torsion springs and the bottom corner brackets that hold them under tension. No homeowner should attempt a spring swap. The stored energy in a wound CWS torsion spring is enough to remove fingers or break bones if the winding bar slips. We say that plainly because we have repaired doors after attempted DIY spring jobs, and the door was never the worst casualty.
What you can safely do yourself: inspect the rollers visually, check the photo-eye alignment, test the balance by disconnecting the opener and lifting the door by hand, and replace weather seal if you are comfortable with hand tools and the job does not involve the spring system. If the diagnosis points to anything under tension, cable drums, or track that has pulled from structure, call us at (239) 326-9942. We will match the part to your door, do it once, and stand behind the work in writing.
FAQs
In Naples’ salt air and humidity, rollers and bottom seals typically last 5 to 7 years, hinges 8 to 12 years, and the door panels themselves 15 to 20 years or longer if the finish is maintained. Homes east of I-75 without direct salt exposure may see slightly longer life from moving hardware. Call (239) 326-9942 for an honest assessment of what is wearing on your specific door and what it costs to fix now versus six months from now.
Seals, rollers, and hinges are replacement items; rebuilding a worn roller bearing is not practical and costs more in labor than a quality new part. Spring systems can be retensioned if the spring is not fatigued, but once a CWS spring shows visible gap between coils or rust pitting at the mounting cones, it is past safe retensioning and needs replacement. Call (239) 326-9942 and we will tell you which situation you are in before you spend a dollar.
Most single-part repairs, rollers, hinges, seals, struts, take 45 to 90 minutes on site. A full spring replacement with rebalancing runs about two hours. If we need a part that is not on the truck, most CWS-orderable components reach our shop within three business days, and we will quote the full timeline when we give you the estimate. Call (239) 326-9942 to schedule a look.
We keep the common failure items on our trucks: residential rollers, standard Windpact hinges, bottom seal in the common widths, lift cables, and spring assemblies for the door sizes most common in Naples. Odd-size panels, Titan commercial components, and OEM CWS struts usually get ordered and are here within a few days. We also carry parts for PGT, CGI, and ES Windows doors on our service vans. Call (239) 326-9942 with your door’s tag info and we will tell you if it is a same-visit fix before you schedule anything.
If it is not right when we leave, we come back until it is. That has been the rule since Dale Kessler founded TruePane Windows & Doors, and it is the same rule our technicians work under on every CWS door in Naples. Call us at (239) 326-9942 for a free estimate.
